They say that “salespeople are born and not made”.
To say that is to suggest that to be good in sales you need to be born with the “magic powers” people think sales is about (think ‘gift of the gab’, ‘charismatic’ or, at it’s worst, ‘good at lying’).
It’s nonsense. Anyone from any walk of life can be good at sales. You can be introvert, extrovert or anything in between.
Being good at sales is about listening, understanding, being determined and, when things don’t quite happen as you’d like them to, having a plan B.
It’s not about being the loudest person in the room.
